First of all, happy new month. It’s going to be splendid 31 days of our lives.

Secondly, happy birthday to all July babies. Don’t forget to send our cakes and drinks to the Headquarters. May your new age be glorified beyond your expectations.

Side Hustle boot camp is rounding up its fourth week projects in all portfolio teams and through the sweat, headaches, sleeplessness, hunger, tension, and endless online meetings that suffered frustrating network issues for the team members, our portfolio team pulled through successfully.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the gist of how the week went down.

Drey drops week 4 task

Our overall oga at the top, Drey himself, dropped our week 4 task. The task - Your CEO informed you on the need to start using a CRM tool for the business. Choose 3 CRM tools, carry out extensive research on the features, economic requirements, limitations and choose one that is best for the business (this should include you signing up on these platforms and actually using them). Prepare a report/document showing your work and your choice. Pick on of the following industry; E-commerce, Sports, Fashion, Tech and E-learning.

Cancelled meeting

The first meeting was scheduled on Monday by 8pm to discuss the task for week 4. But due to network issues, the meeting was rescheduled for Tuesday by 8 pm. No thanks to our terrible networks that keep plaguing our internet space.

28th June, 2022

The team holds the rescheduled meeting The team met on Tuesday by 8pm on Google meet. Many team members attended. A deliberation on which industry to choose and the fashion industry was chosen. Then next on the agenda was to choose 3 CRM tools to be used. The CRM tools chosen were Hubspot CRM, Zoho CRM, and Salesforce CRM. The team members were divided into 3 subgroups and each group got one CRM tool to work on. They were tasked to make extensive research on the CRM tools assigned to their respective groups. When done, they should send in the report of their research.

The subgroup are as follows:

  • The HubSpot CRM subgroup consist of Adeola, Salvation Aderemi, and Mk.
  • The Salesforces CRM consist of Mazeedat AbdulGafaar, Lois Iretide Oluwafemi, and Vanessa.
  • The Zoho CRM subgroup included Adebimpe Owoseni, Adebisi, and Chique.

Cancelled meeting The proposed 30th June meeting was cancelled due to some circumstances beyond the team’s control. The new date was pushed to Friday, 1st July.

1st July, 2022

Final meeting We ushered in the new month by having the meeting by 8 pm. Even though network showed its wickedness to us again, many members attended the meeting.

Each subgroup gave summaries of their findings on the CRM tools assigned to them. The meeting lasted for about 1 hour, 40 minutes.

After deliberations and opinions by the members on which of the CRM tool to use for our final task, the members expressed varying views.

Some of the points noted about each tool were;

  • Zoho is the cheapest tool among the three. Businesses don’t need a website to set it up. It’s convenient for any business size.
  • HubSpot is expensive and complex to operate. Also, a website is compulsory to set up an account.
  • Salesforce is the most expensive tool. It’s more suitable for big companies and businesses. Start-ups with little capital cannot afford it and its usage is complex. The online reviews are also not very encouraging.
  • We shouldn’t choose a tool based on affordability alone. We should also consider the vast advantages that the costlier tools also have which may likely be absent in the cheap tools such as Zoho.
  • HubSpot sounded more suitable for any business in terms of quality and affordability, although not as affordable as Zoho tool which has limited features. It’s like a intermediate between Salesforce and Zoho.

At the end of the meeting, HubSpot was chosen as the best option for the business at hand, therefore, HubSpot was our team’s choice for the project.
